La cover fu inizialmente realizzata dai Far assieme a Chino e Grady dei Will Haven per la compilation “The Bands that stole Xmas”; la versione originale risale al novembre 1984 e fu scritta da Bob Geldof assieme a molte star britanniche allo scopo di raccogliere fondi per acquistare medicinali e cibo per il popolo etiopico. La canzone debuttò alla posizione #1 in Gran Bretagna e due settimane più tardi al n.1 negli U.S.A. (vendendo circa 50 milioni di copie) ed ispirò poi il nuovo progetto delle star americane del pop che realizzarono “We are the World”.
